Former Seychelles President Danny Faure has attended the 2025 Imperial Springs International Forum in Guangzhou, China, where global leaders gathered to discuss international cooperation and solidarity. Mr Faure was one of two African representatives at the event, alongside former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.

A total of 37 former presidents and prime ministers took part in the discussions. In remarks shared on social media, Mr Faure said the experience had been significant and that he was looking forward to seeing the outcomes of the discussions. Following the forum, he travelled from Guangzhou to Chengdu in China’s Sichuan Province, where he noted the city’s development. He also met the Dean of the Arts at the Academy of Art and Design, where he introduced a new global initiative of the Danny Faure Foundation known as the Wave Dance.

Mr Faure described his visit to China as memorable. The 2025 Imperial Springs International Forum opened on 2 December in Guangdong Province under the theme “For Global Cooperation and Solidarity”. The forum brought together around 200 participants from 30 countries, including former heads of state, heads of government and leaders of international organisations, as well as academics and business figures.

Discussions focused on seven key areas: global security, global governance, inclusiveness, artificial intelligence and its governance, delivery of global public goods ahead of 2030 targets, green and low-carbon development, and global economic trends amid trade and tariff disputes.
