Absa Group Limited has appointed Venus Hampinda as the new Managing Director of Absa Bank Seychelles. She will assume the role on 1 September 2026, subject to regulatory approval.

Hampinda has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services sector. Before this appointment, she served as Chief Financial Officer at Absa Bank Zambia. During her tenure, she supported the bank’s strategic priorities, improved operational efficiency and contributed to its transformation agenda.

Absa Bank Seychelles Chairman Marc Houareau said the appointment reflects the importance of strong leadership as the bank continues to focus on its customers.

“Backed by a talented leadership team and dedicated employees, Venus is well positioned to lead the business forward, while maintaining the trust and confidence our customers have placed in us,” Houareau said.

Meanwhile, Absa Regional Executive for East Africa, Saviour Chibiya, said Hampinda’s experience would support the bank’s future objectives.

“The Group is confident that Venus’ extensive experience and proven track record will further enhance our ability to advance innovation, deepen client relationships, and deliver meaningful value to our customers and stakeholders,” Chibiya said.

Hampinda said she was honoured by the appointment and looked forward to working with the team in Seychelles.

During her career, Hampinda has held senior positions in finance, risk, governance and corporate banking. She has worked at Standard Chartered Bank Zambia, Zanaco Bank, and PwC in Zambia and the United Kingdom.

She has also served on several boards and audit committees. Absa said she is recognised for her leadership and governance expertise.

Hampinda is a Fellow of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Risk Management in Banking and Finance.
