The Office of the First Lady Seychelles 2026 has begun setting its priorities for the year ahead, with a focus on social protection and child welfare.

On Friday, 9 January 2026, First Lady Veronique Herminie met the Chief Executive of the Agency for Social Protection, Roma Edmond, and the agency’s Director for Operations.

The meeting focused on the role of the agency and the procedures linked to statutory benefits. The discussions aimed to improve understanding of how assistance is delivered. Both offices agreed on ways to strengthen coordination. They also agreed to work more closely to better serve people who need support.

Meanwhile, collaboration with the National Council for Children remains a priority for the First Lady’s Office. Both organisations focus on the welfare of children, including those in care.

On the same day, Mrs Herminie held her first one-to-one meeting with the council’s Chief Executive, Yasmin Umarji. The talks covered several initiatives planned for the first quarter of 2026.

The Office of the First Lady said the meetings set the direction for cooperation in the months ahead.
