The Seychelles Trading Company (STC) has expanded its Category 1 list of essential products to improve access to basic goods at stable and affordable prices. This STC Category 1 expansion is intended to help meet the needs of consumers across the country. The company announced the update in a press release dated 20 February 2026. The move aligns with the government’s initiative to reduce the cost of living.

STC said it has supported national food security since 2008. It stated that its mission is to ensure every household can access essential commodities at stable prices. The company added that the Category 1 list has served residents across Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue for several years.

“In alignment with the Government’s latest initiative to reduce the cost of living, STC is expanding its Category 1 list to include additional essential items,” the company said. It added that the measure aims to safeguard household purchasing power and ensure consistent access to daily necessities.

STC confirmed that newly added food items include pasta, juice, tea, corn flakes or cereal, liquid milk, chicken franks, long-life yogurt, and biscuits. In the household and personal care category, the additions include baby diapers, adult diapers, baby wipes, and dishwashing paste.

The company stated that these products will remain available at stable prices across its wholesale and retail outlets nationwide. It said the measure aims to ensure access for all communities.

“This expansion demonstrates STC’s continued dedication to meeting the evolving needs of all Seychellois,” the statement said. It added that the company remains guided by its founding principles of consistency, quality, and affordability.

STC thanked the public for its continued trust and support.
