Interviews for the position of Mayor of Victoria took place on 6 and 11 February 2026 at the National Assembly Precinct, Ile Du Port.
The process followed an official State request for the Association of Districts of Victoria (ADV) to interview candidates. The committee will recommend three names for presidential appointment.
The ADV Committee includes representatives from the eight districts of Victoria. They are Bernard Georges for Les Mamelles, Audrey Vidot for Roche Caiman, Trevor Louise for Bel Air, Sathya Naidu for St Louis, Michel Roucou for Mont Fleuri, Robert David for Mont Buxton, Claudette Louise for Plaisance, and Andy Labonte for English River.
Initially, the committee received 17 applications. However, one candidate withdrew before the process began. As a result, 16 candidates completed the same interview procedure. The process included an interactive interview followed by a written test. Candidates will receive points for both stages. The three highest-scoring candidates will be recommended to the Office of the President for final consideration and appointment.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly described the exercise as the first interview process for the position of Mayor of Victoria. The committee consisted of four members from United Seychelles and four from Linyon Demokratik Seselwa. Committee Clerk Samia Lebon assisted the panel.
Chairperson Bernard Georges said the points-based system aims to ensure fairness and transparency. He stated, “the points-based system is intended to make this process as fair, transparent, and independent as possible, and marks the first occasion that such a system is implemented”.
