Seychelles signs new air service agreements with Latin American countries

Seychelles has signed new air service agreements with six countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, expanding its international air transport network. The agreements were reached during the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Air Services Negotiation Event (ICAN 2025).

The Seychelles delegation was led by the Principal Secretary for Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine, David Bianchi, along with Garry Albert, Chief Executive Officer of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA), and Sandy Benoiton, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles. Seychelles initialed agreements with Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, St. Maarten, Liberia and Panama. This brings the total number of countries with which Seychelles has air service arrangements to 95.

“These agreements create new opportunities for air operations and enhance global connectivity through international hubs. As a small island developing state, maintaining strong air links is vital for the long-term sustainability of our tourism and trade sectors,” said Mr Bianchi.

The ICAO event brings together representatives from civil aviation authorities around the world to discuss and negotiate air transport agreements. During the week, the Seychelles delegation is also expected to meet with other countries and airlines to discuss aviation matters and explore further cooperation.

According to the Ministry of Transport, Ports and Civil Aviation, Seychelles’ participation in ICAN 2025 reflects its ongoing efforts to improve air connectivity, strengthen international partnerships and support the sustainable growth of its aviation sector.
