Mr Godfra Hermitte has been sworn in as Assistant Commissioner of Police. The ceremony was held on Tuesday morning at the headquarters of the Seychelles Police Force. The Principal Secretary for Homeland Security, Sheryl Vengadasamy, was also present.

According to a press release issued by the Seychelles Police Force, Mr Hermitte began his career in policing in 1984. He brings more than 42 years of experience in policing and public service. He returns to the force at senior level after serving in various roles.

The police said Mr Hermitte has a professional background in law enforcement, with experience in human resource management. The statement also highlighted his involvement in youth development and capacity building.

Until recently, Mr Hermitte was active in politics. He served as the leader of the Lalyans Nouvo Sesel political party.

The press release stated that he has been involved in training and mentoring young officers throughout his career. The force said his experience will support institutional capacity and ongoing development.

The Commissioner of Police, Ted Barbe, congratulated Mr Hermitte on his appointment and expressed confidence in the contribution he is expected to make to the organisation.

The police said the appointment is intended to support reforms and initiatives aimed at strengthening professionalism, effectiveness, and public trust within the Seychelles Police Force.

In its statement, the Seychelles Police Force extended its best wishes to Assistant Commissioner Hermitte as he assumes his new role.
