Members of Autism Seychelles met the First Lady, Veronique Herminie, on 14 January 2026 to discuss support for people living with autism and their families.
The meeting marked the First Lady’s first engagement with the board of Autism Seychelles. It focused on understanding key concerns and identifying areas for collaboration.
During the discussion, members shared experiences and outlined ongoing needs within the autism community. They also raised issues linked to advocacy, inclusion, and access to support services.
Mrs Herminie said she was committed to working with stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of autism. She said cooperation was important to support initiatives that improve the well-being and inclusion of individuals on the autism spectrum.
The meeting also addressed possible activities ahead of Autism Month in April 2026. Participants discussed potential initiatives and the value of continued dialogue.
Autism Seychelles was represented by chairperson Stephanie Desnousse, alongside board members Sylvie Faure, Natifa Marie, and Herve Pool.
A visit to the autism centre has been scheduled for February. Both sides described the meeting as productive and said it was a step towards ongoing partnership in support of the autism community.
