NEWS UPDATE: Through a coordinated operation between the Seychelles Prison Services and the Seychelles Police, escaped inmate Jefferson Marie was successfully recaptured on the morning of November 10 at Anse Aux Pins.

The Seychelles Prison Service has confirmed that on October 30th, inmate Jefferson Marie of Anse Aux Pins escaped from Montagne Posée Prison. According to prison authorities, the escape occurred at approximately 3 p.m., prompting the immediate launch of a coordinated response operation.
“An immediate and coordinated response operation was launched upon discovery of the incident. Prison officers are currently leading a comprehensive search and containment effort, working in close collaboration with the Seychelles Police Force and other law enforcement partners to locate and apprehend the individual,” the Seychelles Prison Service said in an official statement.
Details surrounding the circumstances of the escape have not yet been released to the media. However, officials confirmed that as part of standard emergency protocol, a full institutional roll call was conducted, and all other inmates have been accounted for.
The Seychelles Prison Service reassured the public that every available resource is being deployed to ensure community safety and to facilitate the swift and safe recapture of the escapee.
