
Seven people have been arrested in a suspected drug importation case in Seychelles, following a seizure at Seychelles International Airport on 18 January 2026.
According to police, Customs officers and police personnel discovered the suspected drugs during routine checks. Three people were arrested at the airport at the time.
Further investigations later led to the arrest of four additional suspects.
Police said that, of the seven people now in custody, four are women and three are men. All appeared in court between 20 and 30 January 2026.
The court ordered that the suspects be remanded in custody to allow investigators to continue their inquiries. Police said the suspects are expected to be formally charged on 13 February 2026.
In a statement, the Seychelles Police Force said it remains committed to protecting the country’s borders. It added that it continues to work with partner agencies to prevent drug trafficking.
Police also reminded the public that drug trafficking is a serious offence and that those involved will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
