Employees of Absa Bank (Seychelles) Limited have raised funds for two community organisations supporting vulnerable groups in Seychelles.

The initiatives benefited the Friends of North East Point Hospital and Hospice and the Ramp Up Rise Up Association.

A cheque handover took place on Friday, 23 January 2026, at Absa’s headquarters in the Capital City Building in Victoria. Representatives from both organisations attended alongside participating staff.

Choir supports hospice care

In late 2025, 16 Absa employees took part in the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation’s Office Choir Sing for Charity competition as members of the Absa Choir. The bank has supported the initiative since 2014.

The choir selected the Friends of North East Point Hospital and Hospice as its beneficiary. The organisation provides palliative and end-of-life care, as well as long-term treatment and rehabilitation.

Absa added to the funds raised by staff. As a result, the total donation reached SCR 15,000.

Retail team backs accessibility initiative

Separately, Absa employees raised funds for the Ramp Up Rise Up Association. The organisation works to promote mobility, accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities in Seychelles.

During the Creole Festival, staff from the Retail department organised a sale of baked goods and home-grown produce. They raised SCR 4,193. Absa matched the amount, bringing the total contribution to SCR 8,386.

Staff-led approach

“We are incredibly proud of our teams, whose compassion and initiative continue to uplift vulnerable groups across the community,” said Marie‑Paule Samson, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs.

She said the activities reflected the bank’s approach to colleague engagement and community support.

The initiatives form part of Absa’s employee-led fundraising efforts and reflect its stated commitment to community causes in Seychelles.
