Female Police Officer Represents Seychelles Police at National Assembly for President’s Address

For the first time in Seychelles’ history, a female police officer represented the Seychelles Police Force during the Presidential National Address at the National Assembly on Friday, November 14, 2025.

Sergeant Lyza Bijoux attended the session yesterday, performing her ceremonial duties as part of the official representation inside the Assembly chamber. Her presence marks a milestone for gender representation and the role of women in national institutions.

During the address by President Dr. Patrick Herminie, Sergeant Bijoux’s inclusion highlighted the advancement of women within law enforcement and reflected the country’s commitment to gender equality across public service.

The Seychelles Police Force adds that having Sergeant Bijoux at the Presidential address, also serves as an example for young women aspiring to careers in law enforcement and public service.
