On 16 December 2025, Seychelles’ Ambassador to the United States, Vivianne Fock Tave, presented her credentials to US President Donald J. Trump during a ceremony at the White House.
During the accreditation, Ambassador Fock Tave conveyed the best wishes of President Patrick Herminie to President Trump. She said the opening of the United States Embassy in Victoria in June 2023 marked an important step in strengthening engagement between Seychelles and the United States of America, and in advancing shared priorities.
She highlighted maritime security as a key area of cooperation, noting that US-supported training programmes have strengthened the capabilities of the Seychelles Defence Forces, particularly the Coast Guard. Ambassador Fock Tave added that Seychelles remains ready to contribute, within its means, to efforts aimed at promoting peace and security in the region.
President Trump reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to expanding bilateral relations with Seychelles. He described Seychelles as a stable partner and said the United States looked forward to continued cooperation with the Seychelles government, especially in strengthening maritime security in the Indian Ocean region.
He also said the United States sees opportunities to deepen collaboration through increased investment and stronger economic ties between the two countries.
