Seychellois Galen Bresson appointed to Music In Africa Foundation advisory committee

A Seychellois national has been appointed to a newly established advisory committee of the Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF), as the pan-African organisation strengthens its governance structure.

Galen Bresson of Seychelles has been named chair of the Fundraising and Membership Committee, one of two advisory bodies created to support the MIAF board in carrying out its fiduciary duties. The committees will focus on fundraising, membership strategies, human resources and risk management.

Mr Bresson will serve alongside Christine Kamau of Kenya and Jordan Alston of the United States. The committee will concentrate on resource-mobilisation strategies, improving the quality of the Foundation’s membership base and strengthening partnerships that support its long-term programmes and activities.

The second committee, the Human Resources and Risk Management Committee, is chaired by Marie-Kimberly Tesha Oxide of Mauritius. Its members are Abdi Rashid Jibril of Kenya and William Chirinda of South Africa. It is responsible for oversight of human resource policies and institutional risk mitigation in line with governance standards.

Both committees will serve in an advisory capacity and have been appointed for a two-year term. Welcoming the new members, MIAF board chairperson Marcus Gora said their expertise, regional representation and experience would strengthen the organisation’s governance and its ability to deliver on its mandate.

The committees will work with the directorate and report to the nine-member MIAF board, which includes Marcus Gora, Julz Ossom, William Chirinda, Carolin Christgau, Joachim Gerstmeier, Eddie K Hatitye, Marie-Kimberly Tesha Oxide, Tabu Osusa and Kobby Ankomah Graham.

The Music In Africa Foundation is a pan-African non-profit organisation based in Johannesburg that supports the development of the African music sector.
