President Dr Patrick Herminie has inaugurated Seychelles’ first open MRI at the Victoria Health Clinic in Anse Etoile.
The ceremony took place on Thursday 4 December and included the unveiling of a commemorative plaque and the cutting of a ribbon.
Among those present were Health Minister Dr Marvin Fanny, Public Health Commissioner Dr Jude Gedeon, Dr Pankaj Wadhwa, Dr Vaibhav Bhola, Dr Himanshu Gupta, Mrs Daniella Payet and other invited guests.
In his address, President Herminie said the launch of the open MRI marked progress and innovation in the country’s healthcare services.
Speaking as a medical doctor, President Herminie highlighted the importance of timely and accurate diagnostics in patient care.
He said the new imaging facility would improve diagnostic services, reduce waiting times and increase access to medical care. The President added that investment by private healthcare providers helped strengthen the national health system and ease pressure on public services.
The project is an initiative of the Victoria Health Clinic, led by its Director, Mrs Daniella Payet, in partnership with the Nivaran Group, which operates in India and Africa.
Dr Himanshu Gupta, Group Medical Director of the Nivaran Group, said the acquisition of the open MRI reflected the group’s commitment to supporting healthcare services in Seychelles.
Mrs Payet said the clinic remained committed to investing in new technologies to meet the needs of the community.
