The Seychelles inflation February 2026 rate reached 0.30% year-on-year. The Seychelles National Bureau of Statistics published the figures on 6 March.

The rate stood at 0.10% in January 2026. Therefore, inflation increased between January and February.

The statistics bureau said several categories recorded price increases. These included fish, other food items and non-food goods.

“In February 2026, the ‘All items’ year-on-year inflation rate was 0.30% compared to 0.10% in January 2026,” the bureau said. “Increases were recorded in ‘Fish’ (1.64%), ‘Other Food’ (1.03%) and ‘Non-Food’ (0.17%).”

The All Items Consumer Price Index stood at 127.21 in February 2026. It stood at 126.83 in February 2025.

However, prices fell slightly compared with the previous month. The index recorded a -0.08% change in February. It had increased by 0.16% in January.

To Fish prices fell by -3.18% during the month. Other food prices declined by -0.17%. Non-food prices also decreased by -0.02%.

The bureau reported several price decreases in food products. Milk, cheese and eggs fell by -1.61%. Fruits fell by -0.98%. Sugar, jam, honey and confectionery fell by -0.39%.

However, some food prices increased. Vegetables rose by 0.52%. Oils and fats increased by 0.38%. Frozen, smoked and salted fish increased by 0.20%.

Core inflation also increased. This measure excludes fresh fish and energy prices such as fuel and electricity.

“The year-on-year core inflation, which excludes fresh fish and energy items, worked out to 0.66%,” the bureau said.

Some non-food prices increased during the month. Recreation and culture rose by 1.71%. Alcoholic beverages increased by 0.21%. Communication increased by 0.06%.

Other non-food prices declined. Transport fell by -0.47%. Miscellaneous goods and services fell by -0.28%. Furniture and household equipment fell by -0.20%. Housing, water, electricity and gas fell by -0.11%.

Year-on-year data also shows several increases in food prices. Oils and fats increased by 5.44%. Frozen, smoked and salted fish increased by 3.64%. Vegetables increased by 3.34%. Fruits increased by 2.95%.

Other items recorded lower prices. Milk, cheese and eggs fell by -4.27%. Sugar, jam, honey and confectionery fell by -1.92%. Food products not elsewhere classified fell by -0.20%.

The bureau said several groups contributed to the overall inflation rate. Fish contributed 0.02%. Other food contributed 0.13%. Non-food items contributed 0.15%.

The bureau also explained how it measures inflation. It uses the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

“The CPI measures inflation, the average change in the prices of a fixed basket of goods and services consumed by Seychelles households,” the bureau said.Researchers collect around 6,000 prices each month. They collect them from supermarkets, shops and service providers. The data comes from Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.

The CPI uses 2014 as the base year. The index value for that period equals 100. Any change in the index shows how prices move compared with that base period.
