The Governor of the Central Bank of Seychelles, Caroline Abel, affirms that, at the moment, Seychelles’ economy is stable. She quantified her statement, explaining that there is an increase of 11% in tourism arrivals in the country. She adds that this development in arrivals has contributed at least 18% of the country’s revenue.
Comparing figures from a few years before, Governor Abel says that this year’s figures are more positive.
Whilst giving an overview of the CBS’s current monetary policy decisions, Governor Abel also highlighted that inflation in the country is at 0.5%, which is similar to the Central Bank of Seychelles’ forecast.
With this said, Mrs. Abel noted that for the next few months, the CBS will be maintaining a relaxed monetary policy which will allow further development within the private sector. She adds that this decision will also be beneficial to the government when engaging in domestic lending.
