Dr Patrick Herminie, President of the Seychelles, has received the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (G.C.S.K.), the highest national honour of Mauritius.

Dharam Gokhool, President of Mauritius, presented the award to Dr Herminie at the State House in Réduit during Mauritius’ National Day celebrations. The honour was conferred on the advice of Mauritian Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam.

According to the Government Information Service Mauritius, the award recognises ties between Seychelles and Mauritius and reflects efforts to strengthen cultural links and cooperation between the two countries.

Dr Herminie attended the National Day celebrations in Mauritius as a chief guest. The ceremony formed part of the official programme marking the national event.

Following the ceremony, President Gokhool hosted a lunch in honour of President Herminie and the First Lady of Seychelles. Both presidents also delivered official toasts during the event.

Several Mauritian officials attended the ceremony. These included Prime Minister Ramgoolam and Deputy Prime Minister Paul Raymond Bérenger, along with ministers, dignitaries and invited guests.
