New Seychelles government to issue a stop notice for the Assomption development project

Seychelles’ newly elected government, which is being run by United Seychelles, will issue a cease and desist notice for the tourism development project taking place in Assomption.

President elect Mr. Patrick Herminie made this statement during a live press conference on Wednesday, October 15th at the United Seychelles Headquarters, Maison Du Peuple.  Dr. Herminie explained that his government will need time to review contractual agreements between the outgoing government and the developer, Assets Group.

The President-elect Herminie mentioned that there were talks about having a military presence on Assomption Island to monitor and police illegal activities that take place around its waters.

This subject has made rounds in the press in India. To note, that in the past, the government of India expressed its desire to have a military base on Assomption island which forms part of the Aldabra group.
