The National Assembly has approved the final two nominees for ministerial positions, completing the new Cabinet lineup. The first nominee to appear before the Assembly was Mr. James Camille, who presented his credentials and answered questions from members. Mr. Camille brings over 25 years of experience in law and the judiciary and has been serving as a magistrate within the Seychelles Judiciary prior to his nomination.
“My vision is to see a society where discipline, order, and respect are not just principles, but a way of life — where every citizen feels protected, safe, and has the opportunity to reach their full potential,” said Mr. Camille during his address.
Given his background, questions posed to Mr. Camille largely focused on issues related to internal affairs. Following the interview session, members from both United Seychelles and Linyon Demokratik Seselwa commended his qualifications during the debate. The Assembly subsequently approved his appointment, with 27 members voting in favour and four abstaining.
The second nominee, Mrs. Amanda Bernstein, then presented her credentials. She highlighted her experience in the banking sector, where she has worked for several years. After answering questions from both sides of the Assembly, members engaged in a debate over her nomination.

Some opposition members raised concerns about the decision to appoint a 14th minister, as the initial proposal had included only 13 positions. Mr. Sandy Arrisol questioned whether there was an ulterior motive behind the expansion.
When the vote was taken, 18 members voted in favour of Mrs. Bernstein’s appointment, 10 voted against, and one member abstained from voting.
