Commander Ayush Dugar, Commanding Officer of INS Savitri, paid a courtesy call on Ambassador Ian Madeleine, Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, on Wednesday, 19 November 2025, at Maison Quéau de Quinsy.
The meeting took place during INS Savitri’s extended regional deployment, which includes joint surveillance operations of the Seychelles Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) carried out by the vessel’s crew and the Seychelles Coast Guard. The deployment also aims to support the exchange of operational experience.
Both sides discussed defence and maritime security, noting the re-emergence of piracy in the Indian Ocean Region as an area of concern.
Principal Secretary Madeleine expressed appreciation to the Government of India for its ongoing support in capacity building, which he said continues to be a priority for Seychelles.
The discussions also covered opportunities to strengthen existing cooperation and the potential to expand capacity-building initiatives through the use of technology.
