President Herminie pushes for investment and stronger Seychelles–India partnership

President of Seychelles, Dr Patrick Herminie, has addressed the business community in Mumbai at the India–Seychelles Business Roundtable, underlining the long-standing partnership between the two countries.

He said Seychelles takes pride in its enduring friendship with India. According to the President, the relationship is built on cooperation, guided by a shared vision for growth, and strengthened by people-to-people ties rooted in history.

“Seychelles is deeply proud of the long-standing friendship between our nations,” President Herminie said. He added that the partnership has developed over decades and continues to evolve.

The President noted that several thousand members of the Indian diaspora now live in Seychelles. He said their presence has contributed to the country’s social and economic fabric. Moreover, he stated that relations between the two countries have expanded across key sectors for more than 50 years.

He also called for continued cooperation. “We seek a partnership that not only supports growth within our nations, but also enables new opportunities,” he said.Furthermore, President Herminie said Seychelles, as a small island state, holds deep respect for India and its economic progress. He described India as the world’s fourth largest economy and said there is much Seychelles can learn from its development experience.

“There is much we can learn from India’s experience as we advance towards sustainable growth and prosperity,” he said.

In addition, the President described the business forum as an important link between planning and action. He expressed hope that the platform would produce practical outcomes.

“My hope is that today’s platform will transform goodwill into enterprise, dialogue into investment, and partnership into tangible progress for our peoples,” President Herminie said.

The address focused on strengthening economic cooperation and reinforcing long-standing ties between Seychelles and India.
