The Seychelles Airports Authority (SAA) on October 27, 2025 welcomed the inaugural flight of Discover Airlines, the newest member of the Lufthansa Group, marking a major boost in air connectivity between Seychelles and Germany.
The A330 aircraft, carrying 130 passengers, received a traditional water cannon salute on arrival at Seychelles International Airport. A ribbon-cutting ceremony followed, officially welcoming the first passengers.
Passengers arriving and those continuing to Mauritius received local souvenirs and enjoyed a performance by traditional Seychellois dancers.
Discover Airlines CEO Bernd Bauer said the airline was excited to expand its network to Seychelles.
“We’re thrilled to launch this new direct connection from Frankfurt. Demand has been so strong that we’ve already decided to operate it year-round — a clear sign of how popular Seychelles is among travellers from Germany and across Europe.”
SAA CEO Colin Chang-Tave welcomed Discover Airlines as the 11th scheduled carrier serving Seychelles International Airport.
“This new route strengthens our partnership with the Lufthansa Group and enhances Seychelles’ access to key European markets,” he said.
With the addition, Seychelles now offers 15 direct destinations, expanding its reach across Europe and beyond.
Discover Airlines will operate twice-weekly flights between Frankfurt and Seychelles on Mondays and Wednesdays during the 2025/2026 winter season.
The event was attended by senior officials from the aviation and tourism sectors, including PS David Bianchi, PS Sherin Francis, Ms. Wendy Zialor, Mr. Wilfred Fock Tave, Mr. Garry Albert, and Mr. Wallace Cosgrow.
