Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Seychelles on Saturday for the country’s 50th Independence Day celebrations.
His aircraft, Air India One, landed at Seychelles International Airport at Pointe Larue at about 12:50 local time.
President Dr Patrick Herminie welcomed Mr Modi upon his arrival. Members of the Indian diaspora in Seychelles also gathered at the airport to receive the Indian leader.

The arrival ceremony included introductions of delegations from both countries. It also featured two cultural performances. One performance showcased moutya, while the other highlighted an authentic folk dance.
Eighteen women from the Seychelles Indian diaspora, whose roots trace back to Kutch in Gujarat, performed the folk song. The performance celebrated freedom and the culture of Kutch.
Mr Modi also briefly greeted members of the Indian diaspora who attended the ceremony.

The Indian prime minister will remain in Seychelles from 27 to 29 June. He will join other guests of honour at the military parade marking the country’s 50th anniversary of independence.
In addition, Seychelles and India will hold bilateral talks at State House on 28 June. The programme also includes the exchange of memorandums of understanding.
