Seychelles and China reaffirm commitment to stronger bilateral ties

Seychelles and China have reiterated their commitment to strengthening relations during a courtesy call by the Chinese Ambassador to Seychelles, Lin Nan, on the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Barry Faure.

The meeting took place on Friday, 9 January 2025. During the talks, Ambassador Lin said she was committed to working closely with the minister to further develop the strategic partnership between China and Seychelles.

She also invited Mr Faure to attend Spring Festival activities planned for early February 2026. The events form part of ongoing cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Meanwhile, both sides expressed confidence in the future of Seychelles–China relations. They emphasised continued cooperation under existing bilateral agreements.

The minister, for his part, reaffirmed Seychelles’ support for the One China Policy. He said the policy remains an important principle in promoting global peace, stability and cooperation.
