Businessman Responds to Alleged Environmental Crime Video Shared Online

A businessman linked on social media to a video showing food served in what appears to be a sea turtle carapace has rejected the claims and questioned the video’s authenticity.

In a response posted a few hours after the story began circulating, the businessman rejected the claims and questioned the authenticity of the video. He said he would not record or share material that could breach the law. He stated that he is familiar with wildlife protection regulations and would not engage in the activity he is being accused of.

He also described the video as artificial intelligence generated content. He said AI is increasingly being used to falsely accuse individuals and claimed this has become a growing issue in Seychelles.

The video has circulated widely online. The date, location, and identities of those shown have not been confirmed. Authorities have not issued an official statement on the footage.
