A delegation from the Seychelles Judiciary is taking part in the fourth International Legal Symposium organised by the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa (CCJA). The event, held under the theme “Constitutionalism and State Building in Africa”, brings together legal representatives from across the continent.
Chief Justice Rony Govinden, Supreme Court Judge Brassel Adeline, and Director of Legal Affairs Lionel Garrick are attending the symposium in Ethiopia. The sessions focus on the political evolution of African jurisdictions, governance challenges, and approaches to strengthening stability and development.
Participants are discussing issues including ethnic and regional divides, weak institutions, corruption, and impunity, with an emphasis on how jurisdictions can address these obstacles.
The Seychelles delegation will also share the country’s progress and practices related to upholding the rule of law, while engaging in exchanges with other jurisdictions during the symposium.
