President Herminie Engages University of Seychelles Leadership on Institutional Priorities

President Dr Patrick Herminie visited the University of Seychelles on Thursday, 20 November 2025, to discuss the institution’s priorities, achievements and ongoing challenges with its leadership. He was welcomed by Vice-Chancellor Joëlle Perreau and Antoine Onezime, Vice-Chair of the University Council, before meeting other members of staff.

During a joint session with internal and external members of the University Council, the President was briefed on key issues affecting the university. These included infrastructure limitations, financial constraints, research capacity development, the alignment of academic programmes with national professional needs and the scholarship allocation process.

President Herminie acknowledged the work of the university’s leadership and staff, expressing appreciation for their efforts in advancing higher education in Seychelles. He also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting the university’s development and academic progress.

According to State House, the visit highlights the ongoing cooperation between the Government and the University of Seychelles to strengthen the higher education sector and ensure that programmes continue to meet the country’s needs.
