National Assembly to Consider Approval of Six Ambassadorial Appointments This Week

Seychelles’ National Assembly is expected to consider the appointment of six new ambassadors this week, with motions set to be tabled by the Leader of Government Business.

The motions, to be presented by Hon. Sylvanne Lemiel, seek parliamentary approval for ambassadorial appointments proposed by the President of the Republic, in accordance with Articles 63(1) and 64(1) of the Constitution.

Under the proposed motions, the Assembly will be asked to approve the appointment of Mr Jacques Francois Eugene Belle as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Seychelles.

Separate motions will seek approval for Mr Terry Romain, Mrs Jacqueline Silla Moustache Belle, Mr Andre Louis Bernard Pool, Mr Patrick Andrea Victor and Mr Nicolas Prea to the same position.

The approval process will be conducted in an interview-style format, during which members of the National Assembly are expected to question the proposed candidates, including on matters related to their competence.

The National Assembly is scheduled to hold sittings until Friday this week, during which the motions are expected to be tabled, examined and decided upon.
