Seychelles recorded a slower rate of inflation in October 2025, with consumer prices rising by 0.3% compared to 0.51% in September.

Food prices saw mixed changes. The cost of fish increased by 1.2%, while other food items went up by 2.29%. The rise was driven mainly by higher prices for vegetables, oils, fats, and fruits. At the same time, prices for milk, eggs, sugar, and bread fell slightly.

Non-food prices remained mostly stable, recording a tiny decrease of 0.0001%. Prices rose for restaurants, hotels, clothing, and education, while costs for recreation, culture, health services, and utilities fell.

Compared to September 2025, overall prices fell by 0.21%. Fish and other food prices went up slightly, while non-food prices dropped by 0.35%.

Core inflation, which excludes fresh fish and energy items like fuel and electricity, stood at 0.57% year-on-year. This suggests that underlying price changes were slightly higher than the headline inflation rate.

The inflation figures are based on prices collected from around 6,000 items across Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue. The next inflation report, covering November 2025, is scheduled for release on 5th December 2025.
