President Herminie Praises Defence Forces for Major Drug Bust at Sea

President Dr. Patrick Herminie has commended the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) for their exemplary performance in a recent maritime operation that led to the interception of a dhow vessel carrying a large quantity of suspected illicit narcotics.

The successful operation was carried out through the coordinated efforts of the Seychelles Coast Guard, Air Force, and Special Operations personnel. President Herminie said the mission demonstrated the “professionalism, vigilance, and tactical excellence” that define the nation’s armed forces.

In a press statement from State House, it was noted that under President Herminie’s leadership, the government has strengthened its national counter-narcotics strategy through a firm “Search and Destroy” approach. The policy highlights the administration’s strong commitment to detecting, intercepting, and dismantling all drug trafficking operations within Seychelles’ maritime territory.

The initiative is part of the President’s broader commitment to detect, intercept, and eliminate all trafficking activities within Seychelles’ maritime domain.

“The fight against drug trafficking remains a national priority,” President Herminie affirmed. “The scourge of narcotics threatens the moral and social fabric of our society, and this administration will not allow our territorial waters to be exploited for such criminal activities.”

The Head of State also issued a firm warning to those involved in the illegal drug trade, urging them to cease their activities immediately or face the full force of the law. President Herminie expressed his appreciation for the unwavering dedication of the Seychelles Defence Forces, whose service he said continues to protect the country’s sovereignty, uphold the rule of law, and safeguard the wellbeing of all Seychellois citizens.
