The Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Trade says SRC inadvertently released UAE import records during a government review linked to the Seychelles Presidency.
In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry said the UAE-linked records formed part of information provided during a review of imports connected to State House.
According to the statement, the records were associated with a separate Tax Identification Number. This number was registered to the Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates.
“In responding to this request, the Seychelles Revenue Commission inadvertently included, alongside the records of the Seychelles Presidency, import records associated with a separate Tax Identification Number registered to the Presidential Affairs of the United Arab Emirates,” the statement said.
The statement follows recent public discussion surrounding import documents published by The People newspaper. These discussions started after comments made by President Patrick Herminie during a live press conference.
The newspaper had published documents containing the address “Management of President Affairs, PO Box 1116, Victoria”. This address differs from the publicly listed postal address for State House Seychelles.
