UAE donates SCR 2m K9 kennel facility to Seychelles Police

The United Arab Emirates has donated a SCR 2 million K9 kennel facility to the Seychelles Police Force at Barbarons. The official handover ceremony was held on Wednesday, 24 December.

The facility was handed over by Ahmed Alneyadi, Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Victoria.

The kennel complex was donated by the Abu Dhabi Police to the Government of Seychelles. The SCR 2 million donation forms part of ongoing cooperation between the two countries. It supports collaboration in the area of security and law enforcement.

The modern facility can accommodate up to eight police dogs. In addition, it includes training areas, a veterinary section, and other operational support spaces. As a result, officials said the design meets professional standards and supports both operational effectiveness and animal welfare

Police Commissioner Ted Barbe expressed appreciation to the Government of the United Arab Emirates for its support. He noted that the new infrastructure will strengthen operational capacity. Furthermore, he added that it will also improve professional standards within the Seychelles Police Force K9 Unit.

Authorities said the facility will support the long-term development of the K9 Unit and its role in national policing operations.
