Magistrate Karine Dick Sworn In at Palais de Justice

Magistrate Karine Dick has been sworn in at the Palais de Justice following a ceremony held on Friday 12 December. Her appointment marks the continuation of her legal career after six years as a practising attorney with Georges & Co., where she served as Senior Associate.

She was called to the Bar in February 2019, appointed as a Notary in April 2024, and holds a Master’s Degree in Business International Law. She also sits on the Advisory Council of the Anti-Corruption Commission and lectures A-Level Law at SALS.

Welcoming her to the Bench, Chief Justice Rony Govinden noted the significance of her joining what he described as a strong and growing cadre of professional women who now form the majority of the Magistrates’ Court. “I congratulate Magistrate Dick on her achievements and am confident in the commitment and perspective she will bring to the Judiciary,” he said.

Addressing the gathering, Magistrate Dick thanked God and her family for their support, acknowledging the influence of her mother throughout her journey. She also paid tribute to her grandmother who couldn’t be present for the ceremony.

The Judiciary has welcomed Magistrate Dick to the Bench and expressed its good wishes as she begins her service.
