New and Modern District Administration Office and Community Centre Opens in Cascade

A new District Administration Office and Community Centre for Cascade was officially inaugurated on Friday, October 23, by outgoing President Wavel Ramkalawan and the Minister for Local Government and Community Affairs, Rose-Marie Hoareau.

The SCR 12 million project was fully funded by the Government of Seychelles. The new facility replaces the previous district administration building, which had deteriorated over the years, as well as the old community centre that was destroyed by a fire in 2014.

In his address, President Ramkalawan said the new building represents more than just physical infrastructure. “It is a place where the people of Cascade can access various government services in a more convenient environment,” he said. The President also highlighted that the centre will serve as a space for residents of all ages to gather, connect, and strengthen community bonds.

Also present at the ceremony were Vice President Ahmed Afif, Minister Devika Vidot, other government officials, community representatives, and Cascade residents.
