‘Approval’ Removed From Border System for Returning Seychellois Citizens

Seychellois nationals returning home will now receive an instant email acknowledgement when using the Travizory system. The change follows a government decision to remove the term “approval” from the platform when referring to citizens entering Seychelles.

Travizory, introduced in 2020 during the Covid-19 pandemic, is a digital platform used for border control processes. Although the word “approval” has been removed from the email sent to applicants, the system remains mandatory for all travellers, including Seychellois citizens, for both embarkation and disembarkation.

Alain Volcere, Principal Secretary for Immigration and Civil Status, said the requirement applies to everyone. “There is no way around it,” he said. He noted that other agencies, including customs, health, and the environment department, also use the platform for their border control duties.

Mr Volcere confirmed that a new Seychelles Electronic Border System portal dedicated to Seychellois citizens is being developed to simplify the procedure. “We hope that this will be complete in about a month from now,” he said. He added that removing the reference to “approval” will help ease concerns and prevent confusion among citizens who previously believed they needed permission to return to their own country.

Travizory is the technology provider behind the Seychelles Electronic Border System (SEBS), the government-owned platform for travel authorisation and border control. Travizory provides the software, while SEBS is the system used by the government to manage traveller information and border security.
