
As promised by the outgoing president, Wavel Ramkalawan, one day after election results were officially announced, discussions started between the elected President Dr.Patrick Herminie and the outgoing president to facilitate the government transition. This was done through a courtesy call at State House and the meeting lasted over an hour.
The two political contenders of the 2025 presidential runoff, discussed about the date and venue for the official swearing in ceremony of the new president, the state of Seychelles’ economy, summoning of the 8th cohort of the National Assembly, handing over strategies at ministerial level among many things.
After the meeting, both leaders expressed their satisfaction with the discussions, confirming that the first day of transition went smoothly. “We have agreed that we will now hold the swearing-in ceremony at Stad Linite”, said Herminie, who will swear in as the 6th president of Seychelles on October 26th, 2025. On his part, the outgoing President vowed to facilitate the handing over process by ensuring that when the new ministers are called into office, outgoing ministers will be available assist them.
With 52% of votes in his favor during the runoff last week, Herminie, the leader of the United Seychelles political party, won the election.
