
The newly appointed Cabinet of Ministers convened for its first official meeting following the swearing-in ceremony held on Thursday morning. All 14 ministers formally took the Oath of Allegiance to the constitution of Seychelles, the Oath of Office, and the Oath of Secrecy.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted in two phases. Mr. Wallace Jude Keith Cosgrow was the first to take his oaths, followed by the remaining 13 ministers recently appointed by the National Assembly. Ms. Kalsey Julia Jacqueline Vijay Belle, the youngest member of the Cabinet, was the last to be sworn in.
In his address to the newly sworn-in ministers, President Patrick Herminie emphasized the importance of public service and integrity, urging members of his Cabinet to prioritize “service above self.” He reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, stressing that all ministers and their immediate family members must adhere to the highest ethical standards.
“I reaffirm today our zero stance on corruption. Every minister, along with their spouse and immediate family members, must uphold the highest standards of conduct, including full declaration of their assets,”said President Herminie.
The President also pledged to lead a transparent and accountable administration, underscoring his commitment to openness and collaboration with the media.
“We will foster a Cabinet culture that is open to scrutiny, media-friendly, and committed to proactive disclosure,”he stated.
Following the official ceremony, the ministers proceeded to their first Cabinet meeting, chaired by President Herminie. During the session, each member of the Cabinet were assigned with their respective portfolio assignments.
The responsibilities entrusted to the Executive Team are as follows
1. President Dr. Mathew Antonio Patrick Herminie – Department of Defence, Department of Legal Affairs, Department of Public Administration, Agency for the Prevention of Drug Abuse & Rehabilitation, Mental Health Care Agency
2. Vice President Alix Sebastien Pillay – Department of Information Communication Technology , Department of Digital Transformation / Digital Governance , Department of Information, Department of Lands, Department of Housing, Seychelles Infrastructure Agency, Poverty Alleviation, Department of Risk and Disaster Management
3. Mr. Pierre Frank Laporte – Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning, Trade & Investment
4. Ms. Geralda Dora Desaubin – Ministry of Industry & Enterprise
5. Mr. Barry Jude Jean Faure – Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Diaspora
6. Ms. Idith Sharon Alexander – Ministry of Employment & Human Resource Planning
7. Mr. David Claude Pierre – Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development
8. Dr. Marvin Nolan Fanny – Ministry of Health
9. Mr. Wallace Jude Keith Cosgrow – Ministry of Fisheries Agriculture & Blue Economy
