The inauguration of the Coastal Breeze Residence took place on Thursday, 27 November 2025 at Perseverance. The mid-range condominium development is the first housing project completed through a partnership between the government and private contractor Vijay Construction.
Under the arrangement, individual condominium owners secured financing through commercial loans, while the government provided the land for the construction of the complex.
In his address, President Dr Patrick Herminie reflected on previous government involvement in major housing developments, including the Ile Perseverance project, 780 hectares of reclaimed land where more than 1,500 families obtained homes through earlier housing programmes. He stated that his administration remains committed to expanding access to housing.
“Development of housing projects for our people remains a sacred element in our social programmes and remains close to my heart. Per our manifesto, my government will continue to work towards the construction of more than 2,000 houses in the next five years,” President Herminie said.
He added that the government will soon begin a new housing project on Ile Aurore, where hundreds of modern apartment-style units are planned.
