Seychelles Ruling Party Newspaper Publishes UAE-Linked Import Documents Mistaken for State House Seychelles

A Seychelles political newspaper aligned with the country’s ruling party has published documents relating to imports that it appeared to associate with State House Seychelles following recent remarks made by President Patrick Herminie during a live presidential press conference.

In an article titled “Massive Imports Under State House”, The People newspaper published a list of imported items, including edible products and miscellaneous materials, contained in documents bearing the address “Management of President Affairs, PO Box 1116, Victoria”.

The postal address shown on the documents does not match the official postal address publicly listed for State House Seychelles, which is “State House, P.O. Box 55, Victoria, Mahé, Republic of Seychelles”.

Online search results appear to associate PO Box 1116 with an entity based in Seychelles and identified online as being linked to presidential affairs in the United Arab Emirates. Publicly accessible invoices available online also appear to show the same address on shipments from the United Arab Emirates to Seychelles.

The newspaper said it conducted its own investigation following comments made by the president regarding importations linked to State House.

The documents published by The People also appear to reference three categories of bills of entry. One category relates to goods imported into Seychelles for a temporary period before re-export.

The People newspaper published the article on Sunday 10 May 2026.
