The Official Gazette confirms that the Seychelles FIU Selection Committee has been appointed.
The notice falls under the Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism Act, 2020. It states that the President has appointed a Selection Committee under section 14(5) of the law.
It confirms that the committee will recommend suitable candidates for the posts of Director and Deputy Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
The notice states that “the President appoints a Selection Committee… to recommend the names of suitable persons for appointment as Director and Deputy Director of Financial Intelligence Unit.”
The committee includes three members. Mr Peter Sinon represents the Ministry of Finance. Mr Pascal Morin represents the Financial Services Authority. Mr Jemmy Bouzin represents the Seychelles Police Force.
The notice was made on March 16, 2026. It was published in the Official Gazette dated March 23, 2026.
The development follows a separate advisory issued earlier in March by the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning, Trade and Investment.
The ministry stated that “the director of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Richard Rampal, will be leaving office following a mutual agreement reached between the director and the government.”
Mr Rampal has served as Director of the FIU since March 1, 2019.
The notice sets out a formal process to identify candidates for the FIU leadership roles.
