Minister Idith Alexander is holding meetings with tourism establishments to strengthen collaboration and gather industry feedback.
The Ministry of Employment and Human Resource Planning said the discussions also support a review of employment laws, guidelines and policies.
So far, the minister has met several general managers from leading tourism establishments. These include Ernesto Osuna Lopez of Melia Seychelles, Marlon Abeyakon of Story Seychelles Resort, Jan Valasek of Cheval Blanc Seychelles, Nitin Abby of Four Seasons Resort, and Valeriy Esimenko of Garden Hills Resort & Spa.
During the meetings, officials briefed hotel representatives on employment programmes run by the ministry. These include My First Job, the Skills Development Programme and the Unemployment Relief Scheme. The ministry said these initiatives aim to reduce youth unemployment.
Officials encouraged hotels to take part in the programmes.
A ministry statement said the meetings also addressed concerns identified during inspection visits by Employment Officers. In addition, participants discussed the localisation of posts and the promotion of local talent for guest entertainment.
“The meetings aim to strengthen collaboration with hotels and gather their input and perspectives,” the ministry said.
It added that the programmes are “designed to reduce youth unemployment” and require participation from employers.
Meanwhile, the ministry said further meetings are being scheduled with additional hotels to continue discussions.
The meetings are also attended by Principal Secretary for Employment and Human Resource Planning Susan Morel, Principal Secretary for Labour Relations and Regulations Steve Monnaie, and Executive Director Audrey Nanon.
