The government says Seychelles monitoring Middle East situation remains a priority as developments continue across the region.

In a statement on Sunday, the Office of the President said authorities are closely following the situation. Officials said the government remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of Seychellois nationals abroad.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora said it is maintaining contact with Seychellois communities across the region. The ministry is working through the Seychelles Embassy in the United Arab Emirates. Officials said embassy staff are communicating with Seychellois residents and visitors who may be affected by current developments. They added that the embassy continues to provide updates and consular assistance when required.

At the same time, the government said authorities are preparing contingency measures. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora is working with relevant local authorities to develop a possible evacuation plan. Officials said the plan would support the voluntary evacuation of Seychellois nationals if circumstances require it. They described the measure as a precaution to ensure readiness and protect citizens.

The government also drew attention to a travel advisory issued by the ministry on 28 February. Authorities advised Seychellois nationals in the region to remain vigilant. They also urged them to follow the guidance of local authorities and monitor official updates from the Seychelles Embassy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora.

Officials said authorities continue to assess the situation at the highest level. They added that the public will be informed if there are significant developments.

Seychellois nationals who require assistance have been advised to contact the Seychelles Embassy in Abu Dhabi or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora in Victoria.
