Two new athletes will be crowned Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year for 2025. The selection committee, chaired by Steve Hoareau of the Seychelles National Sports Council (NSC), published the official list of finalists. This was announced after its meeting on 16 February 2026.

Former Sportsman Wallace Dorasamy and former Sportswoman Aaliyah Palestrini were not selected as finalists. Therefore, new winners will take the titles this year.

Young Girls’ Finalists

In the young girls’ category, the finalists are swimmer Angelina Smythe, defending champion Sharyna Anthony and Chloe Testa from weightlifting, Leah Pool from athletics, and Ella Constance from sailing. In the young boys’ category, the finalists are Shane Finesse and Franco Zialor from boxing, Emmanuel Battin from judo, Joshua Allcorn from sailing, and Luc Volcere from volleyball.

Young Boys’ Finalists

In the young boys’ category, the finalists are Shane Finesse and Franco Zialor from boxing, Emmanuel Battin from judo, Joshua Allcorn from sailing, and Luc Volcere from volleyball.

Senior Female Finalists

For the senior female category, the top 10 finalists are Natasha Chetty, Emisha Victorin and Dora Samson from athletics, Pascalina Moustache from football, Amanda Payet and Kendra Vital from judo, Angelique Adeline and Hillary Nourrice from volleyball, Alisen Camille from badminton, and Margaret Pragassen from golf.

Senior Male Finalists

In the senior male category, the finalists are Dylan Sicobo from athletics, Giovanni Bouzin and Lorenzo Bonne from boxing, Alexander Quilindo and Reuben Edmond from judo, Rodney Henriette and Ahmad Moncherry from bodybuilding, Martin Lebon from karate, Adam Moncherry from swimming, and Timmy Adam from basketball.

However, the committee said it faced difficulties receiving nominations from some associations. As a result, tennis missed the submission deadline by one week. Chess was also excluded. The chairman, Steve Hoareau, said the association did not meet NSC regulations.

“We don’t know its activities, we do not receive any documents from Registrar or from the association, so for us at NSC, if we don’t know what you are doing, you cannot associate yourself with us,” Mr Hoareau said.

The Sports Awards 2025 will take place on 28 February 2026 at Berjaya Beau-Vallon Bay. The event will be broadcast live on télésesel.
