
President Herminie landed at Chennai International Airport in the early hours of 5 February 2026. He was accompanied by the First Lady, Véronique Herminie. Indian Minister Dr. M. Mathiventhan received the delegation, together with members of the diplomatic corps. These included India’s High Commissioner to Seychelles, Rohit Rathish, and Seychelles’ High Commissioner to India, Lalatiana Accouche. The reception highlighted the partnership between the two countries.
The visit aims to reaffirm relations between Seychelles and India. It also reflects a shared intention to expand cooperation in key sectors. These include maritime security, economic development, climate action, and regional cooperation in the Indian Ocean.
During the visit, President Herminie will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will also meet India’s President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, and senior government officials. Discussions will focus on trade and investment, health, tourism, climate change, and sustainable development. The leaders will also address regional and international matters of mutual interest.
In addition, the programme includes meetings with leaders from selected Indian states. The President will also visit cultural, environmental, and health institutions. These engagements seek to support practical cooperation and encourage exchange of knowledge between the two countries.
President Herminie is accompanied by a high-level delegation of ministers and senior government officials. Representatives from the private sector are also part of the delegation. Their participation reflects Seychelles’ approach to diplomacy, linking foreign policy with economic growth, investment promotion, and job creation.
