President Patrick Herminie has presented Instruments of Appointment to six newly appointed ambassadors of the Republic of Seychelles.

The formal ceremony took place at State House on Thursday 8 January 2026.

Those appointed are Jacques Belle, Terry Romain, Jacqueline Moustache-Belle, André Pool, Patrick Victor, and Nicholas Prea. The National Assembly approved their nominations in December 2025.

The instruments formally authorise the ambassadors to represent Seychelles abroad. They also empower them to advance foreign policy objectives and strengthen diplomatic and international partnerships.

Addressing the diplomats, President Herminie congratulated them on their appointments. He said he was confident in their ability to carry out their duties with integrity and professionalism.

He stressed that diplomacy plays a central role in promoting national interests. He also highlighted its importance in supporting bilateral and multilateral cooperation. In addition, he said diplomacy helps strengthen Seychelles’ standing internationally.

The President urged the ambassadors to advance the country’s key priorities. He said they should guide their work by what best serves the national interest. He also underlined the need for sound judgement when dealing with complex geopolitical issues. According to the President, decisions must support the country’s long-term development.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Barry Faure, and the ministry’s Principal Secretary, Ian Madeleine, attended the ceremony.

The government extended its best wishes to the ambassadors as they take up their new assignments.
