The Office of the President has announced the appointment of Mr Sabry Khan as Director General of the Seychelles Intelligence Service (SIS).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 7 January 2026, the Office of the President said the appointment followed recommendations from the National Security Council. It also followed consultations with the Defence and Security Committee of the National Assembly.
The statement said the appointment was made in accordance with the Seychelles Intelligence Service Act of 2018.
Under the Act, the Seychelles Intelligence Service is responsible for detecting threats to the security of Seychelles and its institutions. The service also works to protect national security. It operates in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies and public institutions.
Mr Khan has experience in national security, law enforcement and intelligence-related operations. His background includes aviation security, inter-agency coordination and strategic risk management.
He has previously held senior leadership roles within the Seychelles Police Force, Air Seychelles and the Seychelles Airport Authority. During this time, he worked with national security institutions to safeguard critical infrastructure and national interests.
The appointment follows an earlier announcement made at the end of December 2025. At the time, the Office of the President said Mr Khan’s appointment had been temporarily withdrawn one day after he was sworn in.
In a statement then, State House said the decision reflected the President’s commitment to transparency, constitutional governance and parliamentary oversight. The Office of the President said the appointment would be reviewed following consultations with the relevant parliamentary committee.
Mr Khan’s appointment as Director General of the Seychelles Intelligence Service takes effect from 6 January 2026.
