
The Office of the President has invited suitably qualified Seychellois citizens to apply for the position of Mayor of Victoria.
A notice published on the State House website on 7 January 2026 said the mayor plays a central role in leading and representing the capital. The post also involves coordinating collaboration at district level. In addition, the mayor promotes Victoria’s cultural and economic life.
The notice said the role includes advancing initiatives that improve residents’ wellbeing and support the national image of the city.
According to the Office of the President, applicants must be Seychellois citizens of good standing. They must demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills. They must also show experience in community engagement.
Candidates are required to have experience in public service, administration, community development, or related fields. They must be able to work with local authorities, civil society, and national stakeholders. They must also uphold high standards of integrity and public accountability.
Interested applicants are required to submit a letter of application outlining their motivation and vision for Victoria. They must also provide a curriculum vitae and two references attesting to their character and professional conduct.
Applications must be submitted to the Cabinet Office at State House by 16 January 2026.
After the deadline, all nominations will be transmitted to members of the National Assembly representing districts surrounding Victoria. They will conduct a review and selection process. This will include discussions and interviews.
The members will then recommend one candidate to the President for appointment.In the notice, the Office of the President said the post offers an opportunity for citizens to contribute to the leadership and development of the capital.
