US Ambassador Holds Talks with Seychelles Foreign Minister on Expanding Cooperation

The United States Ambassador to Seychelles, Henry Jardine, held a courtesy meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Barry Faure, on Tuesday, 9 December 2025, at Maison Quéau de Quinssy.

Both sides reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in several agreed priority areas.

Minister Faure expressed Seychelles’ appreciation for the expertise, training, and technical assistance provided by the United States, noting their contribution to national efforts to combat drug trafficking, cybercrime, and financial crimes.

Ambassador Jardine welcomed Seychelles’ partnership in advancing maritime security and reaffirmed the US Government’s commitment to the Cutlass Express exercise scheduled for February 2026.

Minister Faure highlighted the importance of the Fulbright Foreign Student Programme, which offers Seychellois scholars fully funded opportunities to study in the United States.

The meeting also covered new initiatives to broaden cooperation, including the US Department of Defense’s State Partnership Programme between the Seychelles Defence Forces and New Mexico State, and a smart mass satellite technology project aimed at addressing illegal, unregulated and unreported fishing.
