The President of Seychelles, Dr Patrick Herminie, has declined an invitation from the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to attend the Formula 1 event.
This was confirmed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Diaspora, Barry Faure, in a social media post published on Monday, 8 December 2025, at the Seychelles International Airport.
“I’m just back from an overseas mission. I was in Abu Dhabi with the president where he had a successful meeting with Sheikh Mohamed. And that was it, the president declined his invitation to the Formula 1,” Mr Faure said.
President Herminie recently met Sheikh Mohamed during his first international mission since assuming office.
The official visit took place at the invitation of the UAE President and formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
